notd: lubu heels + prancer

so sally’s was having, well is still having a “buy 2 get one free” sale on their stock of china glaze nail polishes and one of the polishes i bought was “lubu heels.”  it was kind of a popular polish when it first came out.  but i have to say i am a little underwhelmed. :(   the red glitter is small and doesn’t really show up as brightly in a sea of black nail polish.

then, i thought if i could layer wet n’ wild “prancer” over it, it would look more awesome.  yeah, “prancer” has red hexagonal glitters in it. maybe the result will turn out dupe-y to lippmann “ruby red slippers?”

ok, not really.  but whoa, so sparkly!  maybe this isn’t too bad :-) .

notd: midnight kiss

it’s a gold.  and it’s chrome-y.  and it’s from china glaze.
yay, i’m in love! ♥

i have no idea why i didn’t buy this color with the other china glazes from the holiday collection.  but now, i’m so happy it was still at my local sally’s.  it was on clearance, too!

at first i thought it was going to appear too cool on me, but i think it’s very elegant.  it almost looks like minx nails.  so, i tried to annoint this gorgeous manicure with a holly, but that wound up being a fail. :/  i think the green acrylic paint i used for the leaves was no good; not pigmented enough.  *le sigh*

notd: christmas mani #2

i actually meant to post this yesterday, but i wasn’t expecting to be as busy as i was. i hope christmas was as nice for you all as it was for me :)
good news: i received some nail polish gifts this year for the first time since my whole “obsession” began! woo-hoo!

my second manicure for christmas: a sparkly, glittery, funky french!  here i used 2 coats of orly “winter wonderland” for the base, and then alternated between two coats of china glazes “mrs. claus,” and “mistletoe kisses” on each nail for the french tips.

the china glaze nail polishes were a little finnicky to work with as they are dense glitters, but i think i fared well.  this mani got many compliments so i can’t complain.

until next time!

happy holidays!

notd: christmas mani #1

this mani really put me in the christmas spirit!  and i needed it, especially after the brain drain that my finals put me through. :/

i painted my nails alternating between orly “enchanted forest” (2 coats) and opi “got the blues for red” layered over a red crème (2 coats each). i really enjoy having my nails painted different colors.  these two colors are not the traditional primary red and green, but i figured by using shades of red and green that were a little bit darker, the glitter would show up better. =)
luckily, “enchanted forest” and “got the blues for red” are cool-toned shades, so they compliment each other nicely.

then, i dabbed the china glaze “party hearty” glitter along the top of the nail. i like how it almost looks like a glitter gradient effect. boo, the glitter doesn’t really show up that well on camera, but if you click to enlarge you can see it better.

christmas is less that a week away! yay, i’m so excited! i want to fit at least one more christmas manicure before the big day, so we’ll see.
